I think this is the best picture I have taken. Yay, I love my new camera.

Wet and Windy Wild Sunday

Today it rained and it poured and the wind howled. My poor little fig tree was almost touching the ground with the big blasts, thankfully it survived.
No sitting out in the sun today. More like cowering on the veranda playing with my new camera (still).

Bugs

I am still playing with my new camera, getting used to the new facilities, maybe one day I might read the instructions. The photo above is a moth on our house. I kept walking past it all day, catching sight of it out of the corner or my eye and thinking that the paint was chipped and I could see the wood underneath, then remember, nope its a moth disguised as a bit of wood. If it had been sleeping on the bark of a tree I would never have spotted it.

The bug below, so I am told by my sarcastic husband, is a cricket not a spider. Just because I happened to say it had legs like a spiders. Another bug with a great disguise, if it had been sitting on a leafy plant I would never have been able to spot it either. But luckily for me it decided to sit on a rather dusty surface in our garage.

Best Christmas Pressie ever - well so far anyway

For my Christmas pressie this year I wanted a new camera, my old one has developed a few quirks. I thought I was going to have to wait for a few months before I could save up enough. But my lovely, wonderful hubbie got one for me today. Thank you Peter. But can you see something wrong with the pictures. Spotted it yet. Yes, you are right I am taking pictures with my old camera while the boys play with my new one, typical.

This is .......... the contents of my handbag.

This is the contents of my handbag. Well technically this is just the handbag its contents are below, but I just felt I needed to say something about it first. I love my handbag, I have been using the same one for three years. I do not want to change it, I have not found another day to day bag I like as much. It is also operates a bit like Dr Who's tardis. It can take all the objects below and still leave room for a couple of apples, a paperback book, a can of coke and what ever treasures that my youngest has found that day. What I found in my bag today is........ Three pens and a pen lid. My phone. My umbrella, even though it has not really rained here for about 6 weeks, you can take the girl away from scotland but you can't get her to believe that it won't rain everyday. My phone with a flat battery as usual. A fridge magnet from the vets, needed when the guinea pig was pregnant in case of complications! A pile of rubbish, old recipts, tissues, lottery tickets, empty headache tablet pack and the empty packet of chocolate raisins I scoffed at the pictures yesterday. A tape measure incase I need to measure anything in an emergency. Lipstick I never use. Purse and coin purse, again never used. An invaluable notebook, would be lost with out it. Two lucky book club leaflets that I forgot to complete and hand in for my youngest, oops bad Mummy again. My ipod shuffle, so cool to be able to listen to when I am walking. And last of all my prize possession my camera I have going anywhere with out it, actually a bit of a cheat it is just case as I am using the camera to take the pic. Oh and I forgot the chewing gum. I think that is all, and thanks for the brill suggestion, one way of getting me to clear out my handbag at last. Do you know there is not a single daisy in there, I will have to rectify this some how, any suggestions.

My Birthday Pressies

Here are the pics of my birthday pressies as promised. The flowers above were from Kerry from her garden. An itsy bitsy Ipod Shuffle from the kids. So I can listen to music and podcasts of the Archers while I am out walking.A cool chicken Teatowel from Dale. Brilliant chicken jug from Keriann. Some Japanese fabric from Peter. The latest Terry Pratchett book also from the kids. Flowers from my brother Bryan. And last and best of all my new camera, bought with kind donations from my hubbie, his mum and my mum. Don't know who the plump middleaged women is that is taking the picture! Obviously its not me I am young, thin and willowey. I am such a lucky person to get so many pressies from so many kind friends.

Guess what I have got

My new camera has arrived at last. So here is the first batch of pics.
I tryed to grow scarlet valerian in my last garden and it just never got going. Here in my current garden it is everywhere, on the drive, in the borders, in my son's sand pit and even in the cracks on the veranda steps.

The New Zealand Iris, not very showey, but so delicate.

I could not miss out the daisies.

This rose smells as good as it looks. And to think last year I nearly dug it out. Glad I didn't get round to doing it.

I love Alliums. I could not find any bulbs in the shops and had to send to a mail order bulb firm to get some. Then the next day found them really, really cheap in the local supermarket. This is one of the really really cheap ones and doesn't it look good.

Snaps I would have taken.....

Today I would have taken some snaps of the Aliums in my garden and the turquoise blue sea at Napier if I had a camera. Phoned the insurance company and I am now waiting in anticipation to find out if and when I will get a replacement camera. Can't wait. I keep turning around and spotting something else to snap and can't do it.

Lunar Eclipse

A snap of last nights lunar eclipse, sorry about the wobbly image, afraid this was the best one of the whole bunch. One day I will have to invest in a tripod to get decent night images.
I have seen a very cool camera that I would one day like. A panasonic Lumix with a 12x optical zoom and stabilisers to stop camera shake. I now have a mental picture of me taking pictures with two push bike stabilisers sticking out of the sides of my camera. In actuality there are tiny gyroscopes in the camera that pick up the movement and adjust the image. Unfortunately it costs almost $1000 dollars. It could be a long wait or maybe a blue moon before I get such a cool camera.
