Today's Daisy and epic fail

I have been trying very hard this year not to buy any fabric. Especially fabric that is just for my stash. I just happened to be in Spotlight and they just happened to have a sale on. All sale quilting fabrics were half sale price, $3.50. The daisy fabric above is for a project, a 1960 based project, it will be used. The fabrics below are not they were just there and nice, so I bought them. Maybe I should just stay out of fabrics shops all together.

A New Year Challenge

I was hunting through my stash of fabric for some Sunflower fabric for Keriann a couple of days ago.

The stash is made up off three large baskets of fat quarters.
A cupboard of my desk full of larger lumps of fabric.
One large chest full of fabric.
Another basket full of fat quarters.
And finally a random pile of red and white fabrics I used for my christmas bunting.

It dawned on me that I maybe have too much fabric. Will I ever make use of it all? While discussing this with Keriann, she suggested a challenge. Seeing how long we could last without buying any fabric this year. A very good idea I think. Can I manage to do it. So far we are 16 days into the new year and I have not bought a single speck of fabric. I think I can perhaps last till at least February. But I would like to make a quilt for my eldest son sometime soon and I know there is nothing in my stash that would suit him. Perhaps I should aim for, not buying random fabric without purpose, just because it looks nice. But buying fabric for a specific project will be ok , I would not want my son to get cold down in Christchurch.

Today's Daisies #85

Today's daisies are on some beautiful fabric I ordered from Rossville Quilts. I would like to some time do a quilt with thirties inspired fabrics. Another project to add to the long list. And some red and white fabrics for my long planned red and white log cabin quilt. Because I am spending a lot of time sitting down I am getting a bit bored. So when I saw a link to the above quilt shop I thought I would have a quick browse. I am glad I did, they had a great sale on and some beautiful fabrics. I placed my order and got a confirmation email straight away. The lady at Rossville Quilts suggested that for the same postage I could include another couple of yards of fabrice. What quilter could resist such a helpful suggestion. A very good sales ploy, sell more fabric and give the customer the impression they have saved money, a win win situation for everyone.

The fabric arrived very promptly, one week from ordering to the fabric arriveing in my letter box, all neatly packed.
Peter wheeled me around Spotlight last week to get some knitting wool for another scarf. I spotted these lovely fabrics on the way past and could not resist. All I need now is my energy back so I can do some sewing. Maybe next week.

Late again the last day of a colourful week

I started late and I am finishing late on the week of colour run by Curious Bird. The last day, yesterday, was stripes and plaids. Here are some stripes and plaids from my fabric stash. They are going to one day be a red and white log cabin table cloth. One day live will give me a little space to work on some of the projects I want to do. Of course, I would have more time if I was not so hooked on playing on line scrabble at Lexulous.

One Thousand Posts Later

Here we are a whole one thousand posts and two and a half years of blogging. I have been racking my brain thinking and reflecting on all of my posts trying to find something meaningful to say. And I have not come up with anything at all. So the daisies will just have to say it for me, beauty is in simplicity.

In the spirit of blogging I am going to give away the above fabrics. There is about half a metere of each.

I am also going to give away the above hat. So if you would like either the fabric or the hat or both, please leave a comment and I will draw the winners out of the hat in a couple of weeks time.

I made the hat to wear to on a christmas outing to the races. An outing I will never repeat.
