Today's Daisy #46

Today's teensey wee daisy, very cute isn't it. I thought I would stick my finger into the pic just so that you could get an idea of its size. Which reminded me of the photos I brought back from Paris when I was 12, every single one of them had my finger edgeing into the shot. It was my first holiday away from my parents and my first camera. If I ever come across one of the pics from paris I will post it and let you see.

More when I was little ..................

I was obviously a born housewife. Here I am studiously hanging out my washing. And over 40 years later I still spend most of my time moving washing from floor to washer and then out to the washing line. The large fluffy cat washing his leg, was my first ever cat and was called Hamish. He was a cat with a very definate personality.

For anyone of a nervous disposition, please be warned the following picture is pure 70's. View it at your own peril.

Here we are in the Lake District, my Dad (love the sideburns), my Brother(sorry again Bryan) and me(yes hard to believe but I was once tall and skinny). I was about 12 I think. I only know this because for the whole of the holiday in such a beautiful place I had my head buried in the book Watership Down and I know that it was published in 1972. Our family holidays in those days were spent in a VW Camper Van borrowed from my Dad's friend, and off we would go. I think perhaps Dad had an idea of where we were heading, but nobody else did. And I think it always rained.

When I was little ......

Mum emailed me some pictures she has had converted from slides. Here I am standing on the our gate in I think my bathing costume and best cardi. Peter thinks this one looks spooky, like some ghost child that only appears later when the picture is developed.
Do you remember my ironing pile collection, I obviously got into training early. I think my little slippers look so cute.
This is me with my little brother, sorry Bryan. Mum used to put his carry cot on the sledge and pull him around, instead of trying to get a pram through the snow. I think I must have tucked my dress into my trousers that day just to keep extra warm, I was a child that always felt the cold. Not anymore living in sunny Hawkes Bay.

More Looking Back

Mum sent me this pic of me standing behind my stall at Eyemouth Festival of the Sea, possibly 1994 or 1995. In some ways it seems a life time away and in others it is like yesterday. I always loved having a stall at the Eyemouth festival, it bustled full of people having a great time. Lots of street entertainment and bands playing, from sea shanties to rock music via kids entertainers. The cafe next to the market served the best bacon rolls for miles. I also used to sell a lot of stock, which always makes a craft worker a very happy person. My Dad used to have the stall next to me selling honey from his bees.
