Spring has sprung

Spring has sprung here. Lots of blossom and a lot of wet weather. I loved the way the petals have stuck to the sculpture.

Rainbow Day

Today has been full of very heavy showers and lots and lots of beautiful rainbows, which all disappear as soon as I get my camera out. I managed to catch this one making an arch over my bank, so the pot of gold was not at the end of the rainbow but underneath it and safe in the bank. Wish the pot of gold in the bank was mine.

More Autumn

Some snaps from my morning walk. thought about rearranging them, but then thought that they were better in a chronological order. As I took this pic the butterfly landed, and I did not even know the bee was there. If you can't spot the bee just click on the image to view
And the usual Tui fluttering around, I actually managed to snap this one before it disapeared off.

Any suggestions?

Down in the centre of the village these rings have appeared. Each one has three eels on the top. Do you have any idea of what they are meant to symbolise. I think they look really good, but why.

Are there fairies living in these woods. I can just picture them sitting on these toadstools.

Hikanui Reserve

After being trapped in the hospital for two days, I really needed a lot of fresh air today. So I dragged Peter an my youngest out for a walk this afternoon through the Hikanui Reserve in Havelock. I am so glad I did, the views over Hastings to the ranges were stunning and we had such a good time, getting the cobwebs blown out of our heads.

I quite often let you see views from my walks, but never the actual roads and paths I walk along. So above is the road I had just walked along and below is the road I was about to walk up.

The Last Day of Spring

Yesterday was the last day of spring. Peter had a day off and we had promised to take Callum to the village pools. This is what they looked like before the kids arrived. You don't need a picture to know what they looked like 5 minutes later.

Sky House

I noticed this house when out walking with the family this morning. The people who end up living there will feel like they are living in the sky.

Orchard in Bloom

An orchard, in bloom, on the edge of Havelock North.

Up our road

Up at the end of our road it used to look like this.

But now it is starting to look like this. In about 10 years time this view will be gone, and this road will look just like the rest of Havelock.

When I walk there now the views feel like they belong to me for a brief few minutes while I stroll along. But once the houses are all built the views will be theirs not mine.

Not that I am objecting to people building, but I will miss it when it is gone. I will just have to walk further to feel at the top of the world again.

There are some section owners who are are even getting their gardens pre manured.
