Summer Hols

We have been on a short holiday to Mt Mauganui in the Bay of Plenty. Above are some snaps of things that caught my eye as we were wondering around the town.
We spent a lot of time splashing around in the pool and the sea.
Walking on the beach at sun rise. Amazingly beautiful.
There were a lot of sea gulls.

Some beautiful shells on the beach.

And a cool walk around the the mount. We were too lazy to walk up the mount, but the views walking around the base were so beautiful, I don't feel so guilty. Especially the little shell beaches that we would never have seen otherwise.

And a lot of sitting in cafes enjoying the view, and yes I do mean the baldy guy sitting opposite me.

Perfume Point

The view from Perfume Point, Napier. I have heard two reasons for why Perfume Point is called Perfume Point.
The first is, the Napier sewage outlet entered the sea there. Resulting in a lovely smell.
The second dates back from when Napier was a whaling city. The whales were landed at the port and stripped down for their constituants. One of which was an ingrediant of perfume. And again the smell was really pleasent, not.
Please leave a comment if you know which is the real version.

For the first time for what seems like a very long time we have had some rain. In the last 24 hours more rain has fallen than has fallen here in Februrary, March, April and May put together. Had to take some pics of the sea, it was so grey and wild not like the usual view of the Pacific off Napier.

Peter and me with our feet in the Pacific ocean. We have been here 18months and I still can not get used to the fact that we live near the Pacific.

This is what happens when you do not pay attention to the sea while taking pictures.

A slightly bigger wave hits and you get your trousers soaked.
